Unlock RMLSweb On Your Phone or Tablet by Downloading RMLS™ Mobile

RMLS™ is pleased to debut RMLS™ Mobile, the app for RMLS™ subscribers now available for both iPhone and Android phones. This app is the portable solution for agents in the field who want to access up-to-the-minute listing information.

RMLS™ Mobile offers subscribers access to listings, photos, showing information, days on market information—all listing information available on RMLSweb! Using the app, REALTORS® may call or email the seller’s broker immediately and even text listings to clients.

Searching for nearby listings is a snap with RMLS™ Mobile—the app uses location data to target the neighborhood where the device is located. Listings may be shown in either list view (above) or map view (below).

Download RMLS™ Mobile today on the Apple App Store or Google Play! The app will be updated frequently to add new features, fix bugs, and improve performance, so you’ll want to update the app whenever a new version is released.

RMLS™ Mobile is exclusively for RMLS™ subscribers. It was built in response to feedback from subscribers, co-developed with Utah Real Estate as part of MLS Aligned.

Mobile-friendly Menu Bar Coming to RMLSweb

rmlswebmenuondesktop

RMLS™ will soon be making a few changes to the menu bar on RMLSweb, making the site function better for mobile users. Subscribers should see the new look and feel as early as Tuesday, November 15th.

The new menu bar design on RMLSweb will be device-responsive—subscribers using mobile devices (and desktop users who decrease their browser width) will see the menu as icon on the left side of the page.

Touching the icon will expand the menu, at which point a user can then select the desired menu item from the stacked list.

Specific menu items won’t change, with one minor exception. The user name will be moved from above and made a menu item itself, under which subscribers can shortcut to User Preferences or log off.

RMLS™ knows how many real estate professionals access RMLSweb using their mobile device in the field. We’re happy to bring a feature to the site that should make this field access run more smoothly.

Questions? Subscribers can always contact the RMLS™ Help Desk at (503) 872-8002 or (877) 256-2169 about this or any other technical needs.

Improvements Coming to RMLSweb Mobile on May 22nd

RMLSweb-Mobile_with-drop-shRMLSweb Mobile will be getting a little friendlier this week!

On the evening of May 22nd, RMLS™ staff will be enhancing the mobile site—adding the most requested capabilities in Listing Load and introducing interface changes designed to make the site easier for tablet users.

RMLSStatusChangeListing Load will soon be accessible via the main page, and users will be able to make some changes to their listings using the site. Subscribers will be able to change the status of a listing, the price, and expiration date.

Changes to the interface will include enlarging the size of text and on-screen buttons.

Office staff will also be allowed to access the mobile site after this update. To better secure RMLSweb, this will require those staff members (personal assistants, input staff, and office managers) to agree to new Terms of Service when they log in for the first time after the changes are made. (See a redlined version of the new RMLSweb Terms of Service for office staff.)

These improvements to our mobile site also necessitated a small update to the RMLSweb Privacy Policy, which will also take effect after the site is updated. (See a redlined version of the new RMLSweb Privacy Policy.)

RMLS™ knows there many subscribers rely upon their tablets and smartphones for business. We hope these updates will be helpful, as we continue working on our RMLSweb browser and tablet compatibility project this year.

Mobile App for On-The-Go Realtor® Safety

Available for purchase at the iTunes Store

Although June is not Realtor® Safety Month (September is!), it’s important to keep up-to-date with any safety resources that become newly available, whether it’s “Safety Month” or not. Often times, real estate professionals are left alone when showing an open house or when meeting a potential client. These occasions can be potentially dangerous. We’ve just stumbled across a mobile application that may help real estate professionals in the event of an emergency. We thought we’d share it with you!

Real Alert – The Safety App for Realtors®

Developed by Michelle Jones, an Austin Realtor®, Real Alert is a mobile application compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad devices. It is available in the iTunes Store for $1.99. This application has several key functions enabling users to get help quickly:

  • Quick Tap Alarm Button
  • Quick Tap Call 911 Button
  • Locate Nearest Hospital Button
  • Quick Tap Alert A Friend
  • Built-In Flashlight

For more information or to purchase the mobile app, click here.

National Association of Realtors® Field Guide to Safety. Visit NAR’s website for safety guides, handouts and tips. Click here.

Selling Safely Brochure. Home sellers need to learn safety practices, too. We have recently revamped the RMLS Selling Safely Brochure and it’s now available to download. This brochure is great for agents to give to their clients! It provides tips for clients on selling their home safely and has a place for the agent to provide their contact information! Remember that old saying, it’s better to be safe than sorry!

RMLSweb and the IPad

Guest Post by Terry Romel

With the recent release of the IPad and the significant adoption by the general masses I thought it appropriate to make you aware of what to expect when using the IPad with RMLSweb.

As I’m sure many of you already know, RMLSweb works best with Internet Explorer 7 and higher. All of the RMLSweb system functionality is available and fully supported on IE 7 and up.

That being said, with the proliferation of new browsers, we frequently get questions at the Help Desk as to why RMLSweb is not fully bi-browser compatible. That question is a complicated one and the entire answer would be much too long to discuss here. Bottom line is that all new modules written for RMLSweb are compatible in many of the new browsers, but some of the existing core functionality (ex. Listing Load) is still in the queue for re-write. (Here’s a list of what parts of RMLSweb currently work in other browsers.)

So, what about the IPad? The native browser on the IPad is a hybrid version of Safari. I say hybrid because it is neither the “full” version nor the IPhone version. What it does share in common with the IPhone version is it presents itself to websites as a “mobile” version of browser. Because of this reality, the IPad is automatically redirected to the RMLSweb Mobile site.

Now there are browsers out there for the IPad that can “spoof” other browser identification strings and as a result take you to the “full” version login page for RMLSweb. They will allow you to log in, but from that point forward all bets are off. One of the most disconcerting behaviors of non-supported browsers is the lack of integrity while performing searches on RMLSweb. Let’s never forget that one of our core responsibilities as a MLS is to provide accurate data to our subscribers.

As a result of the inconsistency of this core function of the RMLSweb system I suggest you proceed with caution regarding the IPad. While it is a wonderful new tool that fits well in the real estate space and undoubtedly has many other benefits for our Realtor® subscribers, accessing RMLSweb is not currently one of them. We are starting to look at the overall functionality of the IPad Safari browser in relation to RMLSweb, but in keeping our eye on the bigger picture it may be some time before you see it fully supported.
